Tips and Tricks: Fit quick release shroud pins. These boats have a lot of power, and need more mast rake in a blow. Watch the gasket on the Centerboard, once damaged say by gravel, they then tend trear off, this has a massive effect on the boat. Keep the bungee on the toestaps in good nick. Spares to carry: Jib Batten, they are easily broken, insulation tape (to cover fittings to prevent spinnaker rips). Laser, one design 1 person hiking dinghy (inc Radial & 4,7)
Tips and Tricks: If you can't affored the "propper" sail contols, use eyeletts knotted in ropes to increace purchase of cunninham, kicker, and outhaul. If you do buy the new kits be very carefull to fit them well as the mast base fitting will just pull out of an old boat if not reinfoced. Keep gravel out of mast foot, other wise the mast will grind its way through the boat. Spares to carry: Bung, easy to loose and oftern stolen if left in the boat. Radial and 4.7: are idetical in all fittings bar the Top Mast and Sail. Class Association | Radial Tuning Guide (good for all) | Spare Parts | Rigging Manual Bonito 1 person hiking dinghy
Notes: From a search on google: 14 ft 6inch long, 18 ft 9inch mast, 88 sq ft sail 118lbs hull weight Originally built by Pearson Brothers (Arundel, Sussex). Flexible, 2-part alloy mast with a sleeved sail (like a Laser). Not many around anymore. A fun, single handed, sailing boat - but with space to take a passenger for a quick blast if you wanted to. The last Open Meeting for them was held at Ardleigh Sailing Club in about 1978 or 1979. Tips and Tricks: Send me some. Spares to carry: Anything you can, or you'll be making them.
