And this is what happened.....

Well, it’s official. 8 out of 8 cats said they thought the Bognor Raid was the best sail of the year !

Saturday saw pretty changeable weather with light variable winds generally, but not consistently, from the south west.  Three F18s and five Hobie 16s made slow but steady progress towards Worthing in a light F3. It was around here that we encountered a number of showers, some of which were quite heavy. We did find some wind in some of the squalls but were left becalmed once the rain passed. Worthing pier stayed in sight for an interminable time until eventually a steady F3 settled in and took us past Littlehampton and on to Bognor. As seems to be the way the wind increased slightly as we approached BRYC and the clouds parted to give us a sunny welcome.

After six hours on the water we were relieved  to land at BRYC. Hospitality was as warm as ever and the galley immediately served up burgers and chicken Kiev. In the evening we joined  Ken in his 50th celebrations.

Sunday dawned bright and warm;  perfect for packing tents and  eating a full English on the BRYC patio. Around 11:30 we set off in a SW F3. The F18s soon disappeared with their kites up. The wind built gently and the Hobie 16s were enjoying some great downwind sailing and started to get some good surfing around Shoreham. We landed at Brighton three hours later with some pretty big grins on our faces. The F18s had done the run in around  an hour and a half touching around 20Kts in the latter part of the trip.

Another great sail.
