VHF Radios | Calling for Assistance

  • All radio transmissions should be kept to a minimum and restricted

  • We use:

    • Handheld radios      Channel M2       

    • Rescue boat               P4                               

  • ⚠️Be aware that Brighton Marina Yacht Club use the same channel​

  • The call signs are

    • Safety boat:          Sea Rider

    • Race hut:                 Race Hut

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

SWITCH TO CHANNEL 16

Depending on the severity of the problem, say either:

“Mayday, Mayday, Mayday”

OR

“Pan-Pan, Pan-Pan, Pan-Pan”

THEN WHO YOU ARE CALLING:
“Solent Coastguard, Solent Coastguard, Solent Coastguard”

​

YOUR CALL SIGN:

“This is Sea Rider, Sea Rider, Sea Rider”

​

FURTHER DETAILS:

“We are the rescue boat for Brighton Sailing Club”

​

POSITION:

“Our position is between Brighton Pier & West Pier”

​

Then explain nature of problem,

number of people affected & assistance required
